ICE Detention Release Paths
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operates civil immigration custody. A person can leave Clark County Detention Center because ICE assumes custody under a detainer or transfer. That person has left the county roster but has not returned to the community. The ICE Online Detainee Locator System, or ODLS, is the correct public system for current detention and recent ICE releases.
An ICE release means departure from ICE custody. It does not prove that another authority has no hold. Conversely, a county release to ICE is a transfer. Keep the county event and immigration event separate, with a date and custodian for each.

Confirm ICE Detention Release
Open ICE ODLS. Search with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth when possible. Add leading zeros if the A-number has fewer than nine digits. The alternate path uses full biographical details, including name, country of birth, and date of birth. ODLS does not return records for people under 18.
- Confirm the full identity and legal custodian.
- Search by A-number when available.
- Read current or recently released information.
- Use the facility or ERO contact supplied by the system.
- Check county, federal, or state custody separately when another hold is possible.
ODLS covers people currently detained and people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. That short window matters. A no-match after 60 days says little about an older immigration release.
Clark County ICE Transfers
A person may disappear from the Clark current roster after transfer to ICE. Do not label that event a community release. Request the Clark custody history or transfer record to identify the receiving agency, then search ODLS. A court dismissal or county bond order also does not cancel an immigration hold by itself.

ICE Release Result Limits
An ODLS recent-release result establishes departure from ICE custody within the system’s window. It does not describe every condition after release and does not resolve a criminal court case. Immigration release can involve a different legal process from bond, parole, probation, or completion of a Kentucky sentence.

When ODLS gives a facility contact, use it for an unresolved current-custody question. Preserve the date checked because recent-release visibility expires.
ICE and Federal Custody
ICE, USMS, and BOP are separate federal systems. USMS commonly handles federal pretrial custody. BOP handles sentenced federal prisoners. ICE handles civil immigration detention. One person can move among systems, but a no-result in one cannot answer for another.
Use the USMS records route for federal pretrial custody and the BOP Locator route after delivery to BOP. Use Kentucky KOOL only when a state sentence is actually involved. The Clark County release search helps identify the right branch.
ICE Release Record Checklist
Keep the full name, date of birth, country of birth, nine-digit A-number, county booking number, date of county departure, ODLS status, listed facility or ERO office, and date checked. This record distinguishes county transfer from later ICE release.

ODLS does not promise an exact physical door-exit time or a permanent history. It is a locator with a recent-release window. When exact timing matters for a court or records process, ask the listed ICE facility or ERO office for the appropriate existing record. Preserve the A-number and date range.
A result may change as ICE updates custody or transfer data. Record the check date and take care with similar names. An A-number search is more precise, but it still must be paired with the correct country of birth. Do not publish private travel, sponsor, or residence details.
Clark ICE Record Requests
Two records may be required after a Clark-to-ICE transfer. The Clark jail custody history can show when county custody ended and which agency received the person. The ICE record can show what happened after immigration custody began. Neither record should be forced to answer for the other.
Ask Clark CCDC for existing booking, release, transfer, and receiving-agency fields. Ask the federal custodian for the immigration custody or release record through its proper process. Redaction and exemptions may apply. If ODLS no longer displays the person because more than 60 days passed, state that the public locator window expired rather than saying no ICE release occurred.
ICE Release Source Notes
Document the ODLS search method without exposing sensitive identifiers. Note whether the A-number or biographical path was used, the jurisdiction, the result wording, and the date checked. If the system lists a facility, record its official contact separately. Those notes make later changes understandable.
Do not treat search-engine snippets or records from another Clark County as Kentucky evidence. Confirm the Winchester jail address, Kentucky court, and correct federal agency in every source. Several states have a Clark County, and unrelated recent-release pages can appear prominently in a broad web search.
ICE Community Release Limits
Even after an ICE release, public locator data does not describe a person’s private destination, family contact, or full immigration case. Use the federal court or immigration process for legal questions and the official agency for custody facts. Do not infer case outcome from release alone.
If another criminal warrant exists, a person may move to a different custodian. Search that agency with the correct identifier. The safest conclusion names only the agency left, the event date if shown, and whether another current custody source was checked.
